Chaplain Lemartes

Venerable Death Company Furioso Dreadnought "Angry Jim"

Thats all for now, i'll put up pictures of the finished tactical squad a bit later and depending on whether i finish my Veterans today i might include pictures of them.

Well first of all i put the grey colour down everywhere and the blood was literally just a baal red wash or it may have been red ink, either way they both should work.

thanks

Nice work Petey! Clean colours! On Dreds you may want to try Dry brushing next time, its quicker and you a nice realistic look! These are cool +Karma

The metal is drybrushed, albeit very heavily drybushed with a tank brushed then given a black ink wash.
I am trying to improve on my highlighting and clean-ness of the colours so im happy that they do look clean. Thanks for the Comments!

Okay heres some pictures of the first finished tactical squad, im not entirely happy about them as i personally think i sped through them too quickly. They need a few touch ups but expect the next tactical squad to outdo this squad by quite a way as i will be taking more time over them. Also you will notice the guy in the middle at the back doesnt fit in, well thats becuase he is getting replaced soon as i have a few spare marines. The sergeant is probably the best painted out of this lot and overall i am okay with how this squad turned out.

Sergeant:

Thanks again.

Bare in mind that pic is 3 - 4 times the actual size of the mini's, so i would say better than line troopers! Room for a touch of improvement but that the same for us (cept maybe Vorro!). Thin your paints a bit more, 2 coats of thin is better thna one coat full thickness...

Bloody good job, i would enjoy playing against these guys.

Corbulo is my pride and Joy next to my Mephiston counts as.

the skin is:
Dark flesh
Dwarf Flesh highlights
Elf Flesh highlights
Ogryn Flesh wash

Not that hard but gives a good effect and its easy to accomplish the same effect everywhere.

I do thin my paints but the tac marines were the first try at the recipe of red i am now using which i modified only slightly the other day as i noticed one colour was doing nothing for the overall look of the red. I basically do this:
-Spray black
-Mechrite Red
-2 thinned coats of blood red
-Blazing Orange highlights
-Baal red wash

Again another simple but effective way of doing things.
Thanks for the critique and as a present i give you:
Mephiston counts as,

Thanks again

now that guy is pretty, i only have 1 thing to say, well maybe 2.....

1. the highlight on the hood seems a bit off.... perhaps it's just me

2. the skull on the backpack could use a nice touch of bone color.

+k for a wonderful paintjob petey!

The hood highlight has a slight mistake showing hehe....sneezed as i was highlighting the bit at the front on the left whoops!

Bone eh? hmm ill try it when i next do a backpack with a skull on to see what it looks like as i do not wish to try it on Mephiston just yet :)

Thanks

I really like the paintjob Petey, i think you have improved 2 fold since I last saw your work, and altho you say you have rushed or not 100% happy, they are good paint jobs!! you can see the care in the job.

Oh no a bad double post...sorry.

Anyway today i managed to finish a Veteran for my Veteran Assault Squad, i have only done his body, head and legs at the moment but i want to know what you think of it. They will all be done like this guy which i think will look cool. Yes the are the Death Company models as i thought it would give a really nice effect.

Let me know what you think:

Balls! just noticed i missed the soft armour.....grrr.
Thanks Guys!

lol, we'd have to reprimand ourselves alot if we were arsed about double posts!

Very nice indeed! Have you got any Badaab black? run some over the black areas and it will tidy your grey highlights on the black (you'll thank me for that - I cant live without badaab black its the best GW paint product ever - fact!)

They are very reminisant of the marines on the front cover of second ed, lovely crisp red and detail good work! +K
