Hi Guys

We have FlashChat installed. The current version can't be intergrated into the forum as the developer hasn't coded it yet.

It can be reached at here.

You will need to create a username and password to enter, this will change once we have site intergration.

Updates to come:

• Button in the top menu bar to direct users straight there
• Site intergration when update becomes available

Any update on the flashchat forum integration?  I don't expect full integration to happen soon, really, but any chance of getting a front page link so that we'll get a bit more active use from it?

Yeah, I'm going to make a link on he front page until it gets full intergration. I think we caught this unlucky in that this version doesent seem as stable as the earlier versions.

Hey I have a question about the chat thingy.
At another site i frequent...Papanurg le.net (if i am allowed to say) we have a "shout box" ON the front page with all the forum listings.  (Tiiimy is a mod there too.) Its superb and really adds to the friendly community feel to be able to surf the site and chat with people that are online.

Any chance we could get something like it up here?  I think it would rock!

Shout boxes are possible, but probably not just yet. papanurgle runs on a forum software called phpBB and we run on smf. It also looks like papanurgle is running a site modification to create a site portal on the front of the forums.

smf can also do this, but I elected to use a more powerful software called Joomla to run the front page - it's quite similar to wordpress - though by being a separate programme it doesn't affect the running of smf.

I'm currently sitting tight at the moment for a piece of software that "bridges" the programs together, so that members wouldn't need to register twice and all that jazz. Also it would mean you would have access to facilities such as shoutboxes and personal messages directly on the .com end of the website... making for a more overall cohesive and professional approach to the site.

So... to cut a long story short. Yes but not just yet... unless the bridging software is ready.... if that makes sense?

I know I tried to get something similar on the old V40k forum, I used SMF too, Papanurgle used to use the Ajax version, but recently changed to this shoutbox thing.
I tried the ajax and I couldnt get it working, so gave up! Was a while ago though, so lots of advancements have probably been made!
