Ginga... How best to paint it
« on: May 25, 2010, 08:11:00 pm »
Right I've made the decision to paint Njal as a Ginger.

How the knack do I paint ginger authentically without resorting to painting orange?

Thanks :)

I'd try tau sept ochre, then desert yellow, then mix of desert yellow and bleached bone as a highlight...
Maybe give it a wash of red or sepia?

Vomit brown gives a nice ginger colour-I "think" that's what I used on my ginger ogryn as a starting point.

I think I am with tiimy on this one.  I guess though it depends on what kind of ginger you mean.  They come in all colours...well, all red/orange colours.

Maybe find a pic of the colour you want, the one that goes with the scheme you have, and post it.  Then peeps like tiimy can tell you how to get it?

See and Im thinkin Ginger in a Drag sense, but guess I got my hopes up for an interesting read.

CMON has an article on etnic skintones - I know its more flesh based but you might get a lead there.
